2024 Student Awards Announced
FORT WAYNE, May 8, 2024—Seventeen students at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), received awards at a special convocation following the morning chapel service May 7. The awards were presented by representatives of the four academic departments, including Exegetical Theology, Systematic Theology, Pastoral Ministry and Missions, and Historical Theology; the Graduate School; the Deaconess Formation Program; and the Student Association.
“This annual awards convocation is one way that we recognize students’ outstanding academic and service achievement,” said CTSFW Provost Dr. Charles Gieschen. “On behalf of the entire faculty, I express our sincere appreciation for the many ways that the vast majority of our students pursue academic and vocational excellence in their theological studies and service.”
Support for the awards program, including gifts accompanying some of the awards, comes from organizations including Concordia Publishing House as well as private donations and the CTSFW Student Association, which assisted the Provost’s Office in organizing the convocation.

“Our small gift of gratitude cannot compare to all the love and support shown to the Class of 2024, not only by the faculty but also by the staff and supporters of the Seminary,” said Kastner.
CTSFW President Dr. Lawrence Rast offered closing remarks, noting, “The spectrum of gifts, the variety of gifts, and the lack of any duplication among the awards this year shows just how blessed we actually are as a seminary, and what hope that grants to us as professors for the future of teaching the faith in our church body and in our partner churches throughout the world.”
