Baccalaureate, Organ Recital, and Commencement to Be Held May 19 at CTSFW |
FT. WAYNE, April 28, 2023—Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), will close the 177th academic year with Commencement in Kramer Chapel Friday, May 19, 2023.
The day will begin with a Baccalaureate service at 10 a.m. (EDT), with the Rev. James Haugen Jr. serving as preacher. Haugen is pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Strongsville, Ohio, and third vice president of the LCMS Ohio District. His son, James Haugen III, is a member of CTSFW's graduating class.
At 2 p.m. (EDT) in Kramer Chapel, CTSFW Associate Kantor Matthew Machemer will present an organ recital celebrating the graduating class of 2023. The recital, free and open to the public, will feature works by J.S. Bach, Maurice Duruflé, Piet Kee, Samuel Scheidt, and Marcel Dupré.
Commencement exercises will follow at 4 p.m. (EDT) in Kramer Chapel. The Commencement speaker is Dr. Leo S. Mackay Jr., senior vice president of Ethics and Enterprise Assurance for Lockheed Martin Corporation and vice chair of the CTSFW Board of Regents. Mackay, along with several others, will also be honored at the service. 2023 honorees include:
