CTS to Live Stream Deaconess Placement and
Close of Year Services
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (CTS)—Several special services will mark the closing of the 167th academic year at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne. The Deaconess Placement Service on Thursday, May 16, and the Baccalaureate service and Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 17, will all be available for live viewing by going to www.ctsfw.edu and clicking on the Watch Live! link.
The Deaconess Placement Service takes place in Kramer Chapel at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) on Thursday, May 16. The Rev. John Flamme of Concordia Lutheran Church, Greenwood, Ind., will serve as preacher.
The Baccalaureate service takes place on Friday, May 17, at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) in Kramer Chapel. The Rev. Dr. James Pragman, of Mankato, Minn., and member of the CTS Board of Regents, will serve as preacher.
The Commencement Ceremony, also on May 17, follows at 6:00 p.m. (EDT) in Kramer Chapel. The Rev. Wayne Graumann, chairman of the CTS Board of Regents and pastor emeritus at Salem Lutheran Church, Tomball, Texas, will serve as guest speaker. In addition to the conferring of degrees, two special awards will be presented. The Miles Christi (Soldier of Christ) Award will be presented to Miss Gertrude (Trudy) Behning of Fort Wayne, and the Alumnus of the Year Award will be presented to the Rev. Michael Schaedig (CTS 2003), of Harrison, Mich.
"The Lord of the Church has blessed this seminary richly over this past academic year with faithful and talented faculty and staff who have been a such a blessing in the formation of servants in Jesus Christ who will teach the faithful, reach the lost and care for all,” commented the Rev. Dr. Charles Gieschen, CTS academic dean. “It brings us all great joy that another group of students will soon be sent forth from here to serve as Lutheran pastors, vicars, deaconesses and deaconess interns throughout the U.S.A. and far beyond."
