The Rev. Scott Stiegemeyer was born and grew up in Kansas City, MO. A product of Lutheran schools, K-12, he attended Concordia College, Ann Arbor, MI from 1987-1991. There he met his wife, Julie, who is now an accomplished children’s book author. They have one child, a son, Jacob. Rev. Stiegemeyer served as pastor to Concordia Lutheran Church in Pittsburgh, PA. A 1995 graduate from CTS, he returned to be the Director of Admission in 2006.

 
 

 Rev. Tom Zimmerman

The Rev. Thomas P. Zimmerman serves at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana as Associate Director of Admission. Rev. Zimmerman has served the church as a pastor, teacher and D.C.E. since 1973.  He studied at Concordia Seminary St. Louis and was ordained at Immanuel Lutheran Church - Downers Grove, Illinois on July 22, 1984. He is married to Marsha (nee Rekeweg); their marriage has been blessed with four children, Luke, Mark, Kristin and John. He accepted a call to serve again at the seminary in 2001.

 
 

 Rev. Steve Wagner

The Rev. Steve Wagner was born in Houston, Texas, and grew up in nearby Conroe. He studied Mathematics and Accounting as an undergrad at North Harris County College in Houston, Texas, and at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. He married his wife Barbara in 1998. He has two stepchildren, Brian, born in 1990 and Megan, born in 1992. He also has a son, Steven II, born in 2000. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary – Fort Wayne in 2009 with an MDiv. Upon graduation, Steve was placed as an Admissions Counselor, and was ordained on July 26, 2009 in The Woodlands, Texas.

 
 

Dcs. Melissa DeGroot

Deaconess Melissa A. DeGroot (nee Nichols) graduated in 2001 at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, with a B.A. in Psychology and minors in Health and Philosophy.  Following undergraduate school, DeGroot worked at Bradley Children’s Hospital in East Providence, Rhode Island as Milieu Therapist on a psychiatric adolescent unit for four years. She attained Senior Milieu Therapist status after one year, and Milieu Facilitator status soon after that. In 2002, DeGroot was hired as an Assistant Coach for men’s and women’s Track and Field and Cross Country at Bryant University (NCAA Div. II)  in Smithfield, RI.  She served at Bryant-along with the hospital simultaneously-- for three years. 

In the fall of 2005, DeGroot matriculated into the Deaconess Program at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne.  Her fieldwork sites were A Hope Center (Crisis Pregnancy Center) and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was placed at Concordia Theological Seminary, as a Recruiter for the Deaconess Program for her internship, where she currently remains in service.  Deaconess DeGroot was commissioned and consecrated on January 21, 2009.  

Along with recruiting, Deaconess DeGroot has helped pioneer Phoebe Academy College, a female equivalent to Christ Academy, which began in 2008.  She has delivered presentations on “Women in Scripture,”  “Balancing Vocations,” and “Altar Care,” and writes for various seminary and affiliated publications. Certifications that Deaconess DeGroot has held include EMT-Basic, Personal Trainer, Crisis Prevention Intervention, USA Track and Field Coaches Assoc., and now, certification as Deaconess in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  

Melissa currently lives in Fort Wayne, IN with her husband, Adam, and two dogs, Bo and Daisy.  


 
 

Dr. Cyndy Lumley

Cyndy Lumley was born and raised in Western Canada, growing up in northern British Columbia and Alberta. She began her university education in Calgary, Alberta but then moved to England where she spent the next 35 years. She graduated from the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK in 1978 with a BA (Hons) in Medical Biochemistry and received her PhD from the University of London, UK in 1983 for her work on The Effect of Metabolism upon Radiosensitizing and Chemopotentiating Properties of Nitro-heterocyclic Compounds in vitro.

During her 25 year career with the pharmaceutical industry, Dr Lumley published extensively in the scientific literature, edited numerous books, was frequently invited to present at national and international meetings, and lectured on MSc courses in Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Medicine and Toxicology. She served on the Board of Directors for several companies, including the Evangelical Lutheran Church of England (ELCE), where she was Secretary from 2005-2008.

Dr Lumley began her theological training in January 2007 at the theological college for the ELCE, Westfield House, which is attached to Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge, UK. She then spent a year in Fort Wayne, as an exchange student in the MA (Deaconess) program at Concordia Theological Seminary (CTS). Currently Dr Lumley is completing her deaconess internship at CTS, managing the MA in Deaconess Studies program. She holds dual Canadian and British citizenship.
